Randy Lusty, building ground supervisor, told the board the district’s utility costs rose compared with 2024–25, saying “the totally utility cost trend has increased $10,639 over the uh 2425.” He explained that an extended cold snap in January increased natural gas usage while electricity costs produced the primary increase despite lower overall electric usage for parts of the year.
Lusty said new equipment and more consistent building set points should produce energy-efficiency improvements going forward. He outlined next steps for controls and mechanical startups and thanked staff, students and families for day-to-day practices that help manage energy use.
