Consultants lay out timeline, town halls and drainage work for Springtown comprehensive plan

Consultants working on Springtown's comprehensive plan updated the council on scope, schedule and next public-engagement steps on Jan. 22. Dalton Aiken (Public Management) and a consulting engineer outlined the plan's focus on housing, population, land use and infrastructure and said it will include a hazard-mitigation element because of GLO funding requirements.

The team said it is tentatively scheduling an initial town hall in the Feb–Mar timeframe to gather resident feedback, with a second, presentation-style town hall in Aug–Sep to show a 50% draft and gather additional input. Consultants told the council they will produce a CIP and an implementation manual and that some implementation may be through zoning and ordinance updates. The consultants also emphasized a systemwide drainage assessment to identify mitigation priorities; they noted GLO funding does not pay for detailed engineered design work but will allow planning, prioritization and cost estimating.

Council members asked about drainage scope, lot-level grading, and how the plan's recommendations would be translated into ordinance changes. Consultants said they would return with a recommended CPAC membership and bring committee nominations to the February meeting for council consideration.
