Pacific Ridge staff told the board they are intensifying work on attendance and social-emotional learning after reviewing Panorama well-being survey data and diagnostic assessments.
Julie highlighted survey responses showing "88% of our respondents or students answered they cared quite a bit or cared a tremendous amount" about others' feelings and 80% said they got along with students different from them. Staff flagged an area for growth — only 52% said they could clearly describe their feelings — and said counselors will use targeted small groups and wayfinder curriculum to improve self-efficacy. The school detailed tiered attendance interventions (weekly tier 2/3 team, nudge letters, individualized attendance plans) and positive incentives including stickers for 90%+ attendance and class-level rewards tied to PBIS.
Presenters said they are using data-driven conversations with families and community partners to remove barriers to attendance and that many elementary absenteeism issues stem from family-level challenges. The board requested continued updates on attendance trajectories and outcomes as interventions are implemented.
