The board approved a district-wide adoption of health instructional materials aligned to Oregon’s 2023 health standards. Staff explained the adoption cycle and recommended continuing with the current publishers and titles for elementary, middle and high school, with both digital licenses and hardback texts where applicable.
A staff presenter said, "The total um cost of the health adoption would be $222,222.22," and noted the materials had been on display in accordance with board policy and that parents had been notified in advance of adoption decisions. Board members asked about parental access and how the sexual and reproductive health topics were presented; a board member asked, "is there a process for parents to be aware of what's going to be T in that one area that seual piece," prompting staff to confirm materials had been available for review and that notices had been sent.
