Seaside SD 10 declared school bus 7020 surplus and approved selling the vehicle to Warrington School District during the April 15 meeting.
Staff explained the district periodically surpluses vehicles that are fully depreciated or replaced; the recommendation included selling the bus to a neighboring district that can still use it. "I move to approve the disposal of bus 7020 as requested as well as sell the bus to Warrington School District," a board member said when bringing the motion.
Board members asked why the district was selling a working bus; staff responded that buses are regularly aged out once fully depreciated and replaced with newer vehicles. The motion to surplus and sell bus 7020 passed on a voice vote.
