Board flags state budget cuts that would hit CTE and FFA funding and small‑district PE grants
Summary
At the meeting a board member summarized a state budget list that would shave the first 2.5% from career and technical education (CTE) funding, with FFA support reduced in year one and eliminated in year two; small‑district PE grants were also noted as at‑risk.

A board member summarized the state's preliminary budget cuts and warned that the first 2.5% of reductions on the state's list would come from career and technical education (CTE) programs. The member said the list included reductions to support for FFA that would reduce funding in year one and eliminate it in year two, and also highlighted grants that pay for elementary PE teachers in very small districts.
"The state released their list of cuts for their own budget. And I thought it was interesting that the first two and a half% that they would cut come from CTE," a board member said, urging caution but also advising the district to avoid panic. The board member said Stanfield would remain "fully intact with our own programs as long as we continue to just spend our money in smart ways," and said he would circulate the state's list to board members for review.
No formal budget actions were taken at the meeting; the board indicated it would monitor state budget developments and assess local impacts if the proposed cuts advance.
