District IT staff to reconfigure Synergy and roll out Clever QR badges for students

District technology staff reported on two fronts: Synergy, the student information system, requires configuration and coordination with the state, and the district is working on an inventory of teacher laptops and keys. Rusty, the district technology lead, said he will contact neighboring districts and the ESD to align Synergy configuration and to ensure ODE data pulls function correctly.
On classroom access and cybersecurity, staff described implementing Clever QR badges so younger students can sign in without remembering passwords; the badges can be invalidated if lost and include multi-factor features for home use. "What the Clever badges does... they just show the QR code to sign in," Rusty explained, describing the goal of simplifying sign-ins for elementary students. Staff also said a small number of teacher laptops were not returned at the end of the year and that an inventory and check-in process is being tightened.
Rusty will continue troubleshooting with the vendor and peer districts; the district aims to have the Clever badge system functional by the start of the school year.
