Maplewood council approves rezoning, duplex permit and planned-unit development ordinances

Maplewood's City Council on Aug. 18 adopted three land-use ordinances on final reading. The council approved Bill 6336 to rezone 2312 Belleview from Public Activity District to SR single-family residential; the motion passed unanimously and the bill was recorded as ordinance 6125. Council members did not request extended discussion on the item beyond the reading and roll call.

The council also approved Bill 6337, granting a conditional-use permit for a residential duplex at 7636 Jerome Avenue. Council members clarified that the duplex form had existed on the parcel since the 1960s and that the action was not a teardown-and-rebuild proposal. The bill passed by roll call and became ordinance 6127. Finally, council members voted to authorize Bill 6338, establishing a planned unit development district and a preliminary development plan for about 1.10 acres at 7606 Manchester Road; the motion passed and the bill was adopted as ordinance 6128.
