Trailhead and stream-restoration projects move forward; county plans workshop to solicit proposals

County staff and NRDP representatives discussed recreation and restoration projects, reporting that the Nor(d) trailhead access and parking had been roughed in and that easement and final work remain. Staff said the parking area is "still clay" and needs finishing material and a fence to be completed.

"The parking lot's still clay. I think it needs a little bit more material removed out of there, but then they can get that graveled in and get it finished up," County staff said while describing the near-term steps required to complete the trailhead. Staff also described road-and-stream proposals for Piper (Pipe) Creek to reduce sediment inputs, noting legacy roads-and-trails funding and optional supplemental work packages that could bring project totals in the low hundreds of thousands.

The groups agreed to hold a workshop in mid-August to solicit more concrete proposals for the next solicitation; participants discussed scheduling constraints (local car show and possible fire‑season lodging pressures) and suggested August 17–21 as a likely window. County staff said the fall solicitation will open after the summer workshops when applicants will be expected to present refined proposals.
