The Pendleton County Schools board heard a presentation on the district's "Huddle" livestream service that athletic staff say supports coaching, recruiting and student film review.
Jackie, representing athletics, said the overall Huddle package costs $13,000 per year; the board office pays $5,000 and Jackie said the athletics program covers the remaining $8,000 through fundraisers and pay-per-view sales. "I do pay $8,000," Jackie said during the presentation. She also described a recent growth in streaming: "63 live streams and 942 viewers," and reported a 25–26% increase in live-stream viewers year over year. She noted the service allows coaches and recruiters to view student film and compile highlights for college recruiting.
Presentation materials cited specific revenue examples: a high-attendance football game between Pendleton County and Petersburg drew 102 views and 31 pay-per-view purchases, which produced $325 in Huddle revenue (not including gate receipts). The athletics staff also described selling ad placements to local businesses (example price: $500 per ad) as a revenue source used to offset the program cost.
Board members asked how season passes and single-game purchases are applied; athletics staff said season passes cover home games only, and pay-per-view for away games is controlled by the host school. The board did not take a separate vote on Huddle; the presentation was moved earlier on the agenda and concluded with questions answered.
