The Montour School District Board of School Directors voted unanimously Dec. 5 to approve a personnel report that included two hires: Sarah Leader as a .5 teacher and Carolyn Hornichak as a paraprofessional at Montour High School.
Mrs. Sinicki presented the Personnel Report and moved to approve the listed elections pending required clearances. The professional-staff appointment listed Sarah Leader to begin a half-time teaching assignment effective Dec. 16, 2024, at a prorated salary of $26,987.50 (M Step 1, ½ contractual rate). The support-staff appointment listed Carolyn Hornichak as an MHS paraprofessional effective Jan. 2, 2025, at $25.48 per hour.
Mr. Galiyas moved to approve the report; Mr. Rippole seconded. During brief discussion Mr. Rippole praised the paraprofessional hire, saying, "this is her calling." The board then took a roll-call vote; the meeting record shows that all members present voted "YES," and the motion carried.
Board President Kenneth Barth called the special meeting to order at 6:10 p.m. and adjourned it at 6:17 p.m. The meeting record lists Annemarie Harr, Solicitor, and Dr. Christopher Stone, Superintendent, as present, and Tiffani Suriano-Doyle as recording/board secretary.
