Commission approves routine permits, grants task order and temporary use requests

At its meeting the Hillsboro City Commission approved several administrative items: a small, capped task order to handle multiple small grant applications, a raffle permit for the Hillsboro Sanford Auxiliary, and a short-term request from a school to use a street area to unload grain for one to two days.

Staff proposed a single task order (hourly, capped at roughly $5,000) so Abby could prepare several small grants (electrical, street) without generating multiple separate task orders. Commissioners agreed to authorize the approach so staff can bill hours to a single task order for small grant preparation; larger grants will receive separate task orders.

The commission also approved a raffle permit for the Hillsboro Sanford Auxiliary and allowed the school’s temporary street dumping request on the condition storm-water inlets be covered and the area cleaned up promptly. Separately, commissioners expressed conditional openness to renting the city street sweeper to Mayville pending a contract that addresses training, transport and damage liability.
