The Lead-Deadwood School District 40-1 board approved multiple personnel contracts during its regular meeting, including a middle-school special-education hire and an appointment for middle-school football duties.
Board members approved a contract for Sherry Strand as a middle-school special-education instructor at $59,425; the board noted the contract is contingent on Strand's certification being completed. The board also approved a classified work agreement for Sherry Johnson in elementary food service and an extra-duty contract for Dylan Gillespie as head middle-school football coach (contract amount read aloud during the meeting).
During discussion the board recognized that while the district does not anticipate certification difficulties, contingency plans exist if certification is delayed. A motion to approve the contracts was made and seconded and the board carried the approvals without further amendment.
The approvals were recorded as part of the A2 contracts agenda item.
