Operations and safety staff told the board they ran a unified command exercise this summer with local police, fire and EMS and engaged the county emergency manager to walk buildings and update severe‑weather (tornado) shelter maps. "We participated early in the summer in a unified command exercise with our local law enforcement, our fire EMS," the operations presenter said, adding outside evaluators provided improvement recommendations.
Transportation and facilities highlights included bus inspections and route adjustments, an added bus for a growing daycare route, and custodial projects including a five‑step terrazzo polishing system to replace annual waxing. Staff also described creating learning pods—repurposing underused cabinetry and hall space for small‑group interventions—and adding kitchen prep stations for a new health/family/consumer sciences program at the elementary school.
