Commissioner appointments set for joint drainage boards in McClamrock and Sim Rogers watersheds

At its Aug. 18 meeting, the Clinton County Drainage Board appointed Commissioner Bert Weaver and Commissioner Kevin Myers to serve on joint drainage boards for the Charles McClamrock and Sim Rogers watersheds.

Mr. Surveyor told the board Clinton County would take the lead on the Charles McClamrock board because the county has a longer length of drain in the watershed “per code,” and said an organizational meeting is set for Tuesday the 25th at 10:00 a.m. for the Charles McClamrock boards and 10:15 a.m. for the Sim Rogers boards. Mr. Brewer then named the two commissioners to serve on each joint board: “I would appoint Commissioner Bert Weaver and Commissioner Kevin Myers,” he said.

The board’s role in the joint boards follows county drainage code procedures described by Mr. Surveyor: each board’s chairman or president must appoint two members and the fifth member is chosen at the organizational meeting; the fifth member must not be a resident of either county. The appointments were presented for administrative organization; the transcript records no separate roll-call vote on the appointments.

The organizational meetings will include representatives from Boone County and are the next procedural step for both watersheds. The McClamrock and Sim Rogers joint boards are intended to coordinate rearrangement and maintenance of shared drainage infrastructure between the counties.
