Council picks Bike Utah for trails community engagement under $20,000 planning grant

The Town Council selected Bike Utah on April 8 as the consultant to conduct community engagement about potential trails and trail‑network preferences. Staff said the selection panel reviewed three qualified proposals and prioritized outreach rather than design; Bike Utah’s proposal and cost allowed the town to preserve funds for a later master‑planning phase if the community interest supports it.

Ryan Gubler told the council the RFP asked for community outreach only (not final trail design) and that Bike Utah has worked on broader multi‑use planning across Utah. “We’re not asking Bike Utah to design this. We’re asking him, ‘Go out to the community, find out if we want it,’” he said. Staff will bring a draft consultant contract to a subsequent meeting (target April 22) for council approval and will continue to work with internal staff liaisons and council members who serve as project contacts.
