The board approved a motion to replace the district—s current Raptor visitor-management system with Visitor Aware, a cloud-based system capable of optional facial-recognition enrollment.
During discussion a director asked whether the system would scan faces and where biometric data would be stored. Administration responded that facial-scan enrollment is voluntary, the system stores data in the vendor cloud, and retention windows are configurable (for example three days, 30 days, or a custom schedule). The administration said signage will be posted to make opt-out choices clear to visitors.
The board voted in favor of contract approval and directed administration to implement opt-out signage and retention settings consistent with staff and legal recommendations.
