Committee of the Whole adjourns after cursive presentation; curriculum to come to board Sept. 2
Summary
After hearing the cursive curriculum presentation and brief questions about testing, the committee voted to adjourn. District staff said the finalized curriculum will be presented to the board for official approval on Sept. 2.
Following the presentation on elementary cursive instruction, the Committee of the Whole moved to adjourn the Aug. 18 session. Mr. Myers made the motion to adjourn and Mr. Shane seconded; the Chair declared the meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
Before adjournment, Committee member Mrs. Good praised the program as a needed skill and asked whether the curriculum will go before the board. A district staff member said the curriculum materials will be finished by the curriculum team and "you should see that in the September second board meeting for official approval." The staff member indicated the district intentionally advanced implementation logistics ahead of formal board approval so lessons could begin on the planned schedule.
No public comments were received during the committee portion of the meeting. The Chair closed the Committee of the Whole and said the regular board meeting would start approximately 13 minutes later.
