District administrators presented a rundown of this summer’s facilities and technology work at the Aug. 4 Building & Grounds Committee meeting, saying many projects were completed in time for the new school year. Presenters listed sealcoating and line painting at the high school and Mount Rock Elementary, sidewalk repair and concrete leveling at the high school, several building repairs and updated lighting at the district office.
“We sealed and line coded both our high school campus and our Mount Rock Elementary campus,” the presenters said, noting the high-school work was complete and the Mount Rock work was expected to finish by the end of the day. They also reported that a hot-water-heater replacement at Mount Rock was scheduled as a three-day job and that a recent main sewer-line repair at Nubo Elementary is complete; a related turf/mesh project is expected to finish by Aug. 8. The presentation thanked custodial, grounds and maintenance staff and singled out staff who stepped into interim roles to ensure work moved forward.
Technology upgrades highlighted by the district included a cellular signal-boosting installation completed July 31 that now provides stronger coverage throughout the high school, and an initiative to replace aging security cameras: the district ordered 107 cameras, has configured 75 and installed 47 (about 45% complete). The presenters said district technology staff will install most units and that an outside contractor will complete camera installs that require a lift, with the entire camera replacement expected to finish in fall 2025.
Board members praised the work but asked for clarification on scope and remaining tasks. Trustees also thanked staff for completing projects ahead of the opening of school and for recycling or disposing of old furniture and equipment. No formal policy or budget action was taken in association with the presentation; the report was informational.
