Principals report test dates, student achievements and spring activities

School leaders updated the board on testing, extracurriculars and student recognition during the March 25 meeting. High School Principal Mike Wilson said juniors took the ACT on March 10 and proctors reported strong student effort; he also noted winter athletics have concluded and spring sports are underway. Wilson told the board a Kare 11 reporter interviewed students about a project and the group will travel to Fort Snelling to honor Marines Bill Bennewitz and Harlan Rosvold.
Middle School Principal Kris Wallace reported a well-attended talent show on March 13 and that 26 youth wrestlers qualified for state competition. Elementary Principal Rita Platt said the district won first place in the state Battle of the Books (1st of 234 teams), held awards for second-trimester achievements, and is planning summer school programming. Principals flagged upcoming Forward testing and test prep for grades three and four.
