At the Jan. 23 Building and Grounds meeting, Project Manager Kyle Robers told the committee that the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services requires the district to sign a Letter of Intent because areas west of the kitchen and storage rooms currently have only corridor sprinkler coverage. Robers stated, "Because these western spaces lack full coverage, the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) requires the District to sign a Letter of Intent."
Robers said the LOI would commit the district to extending fire protection into those spaces during future projects or as funding allows. To address the uncovered areas, Nexus reported a Phase 2 bid of $765,310 to provide full protection for the remaining coverage areas and recommended contingency allowances for painting exposed piping ($17,000) and potential ACT ceiling repairs ($12,000). The committee approved moving forward with the proposal; Nexus will return with pump-determination results after a DPW-conducted flow test.
