South Milwaukee student selected for National STEM Festival; district thanks donors

Superintendent Roemer highlighted student and community achievements. "Nikayla is one of 55 students nationwide who will present at the National STEM Festival in Washington, DC, for her project of designing and building a system for testing water quality that will help scientists target the invasive mussel in the Great Lakes," the minutes state. Roemer also thanked the SM Legacy Group for a donation enabling Lakeview Elementary second graders to design and plant a learning garden.
Roemer reminded the board that the middle school celebration of learning is scheduled for June 5. No formal board action was recorded for the recognitions; the item was presented as part of the Superintendent's Report.
