Principals report summer programs, new playground and student trips

Elementary, middle and high school principals told the board summer programming is underway: 138 students registered in grades 4K–2, a new kindergarten playground installed, a used bus arriving June 15, summer classes active, and 22 students departing on an educational tour to Panama.
District principals reported on end‑of‑year activities and summer programs during the meeting.
Middle School Principal Kris Wallace said the school year ended with community service activities and a carnival, and that middle school summer school is under way after a Wild Mountain field trip. Elementary School Principal Rita Platt reported, “We have 138 kids in grades 4K-2 registered (64% of school-year students.),” noted Kids Care ran its first full week successfully, and staff are scheduling ongoing CPR certification with Nurse Hollie Miller. Platt also noted the new kindergarten playground is installed and a used bus will be delivered June 15.
High School Principal Mike Wilson said summer school offerings include an online government class and credit remediation, the weight room has more than 130 participants, and “Twenty-two students are departing for an educational tour to Panama.” Athletic highlights included state placements for girls' track relays and the baseball team's sectional championship and advancement to the state tournament.
