District outlines summer facilities work ahead of fall classes

Superintendent Deidre Roemer briefed the board on multiple summer facilities projects intended to be completed before the 2026–27 school year. PLM expects to finish high school parking-lot concrete this week and proceed to paving the next week; Blakewood Elementary first-floor window installation is complete and second-floor demolition is nearly finished with completion expected in three to four weeks; and Lakeview door replacements are expected to take two to three weeks.
Roemer said the Luther gym floor is installed and striping is scheduled within the next two weeks. Middle School gym repairs are awaiting new planks to fix flood damage caused by a pool pump; those repairs are covered by insurance after the deductible and Stalker Floor is scheduled to complete the work. Pieper is slated to begin preliminary work on the middle-school generator next week. The superintendent also invited board members to a new teacher luncheon on Aug. 17 and noted the district will participate in the Heritage Days parade on July 25.
The roofing project budget of $1,032,367 was approved earlier in the consent agenda; the facilities update in the superintendent's report provided progress details across several campus sites.
