The Policy Committee examined revisions to Policy 345.61 and 345.61-Rule addressing early graduation guidelines. Staff explained the policy was originally written when it was rare for a student to accumulate enough credits to graduate after six semesters; current credit structures make that outcome more plausible.
Administrator Amy Lewis emphasized the update is not intended to make early graduation routine: "It is not our recommendation that we would be graduating students after 6 semesters." The committee requested clearer language in the rule to state the district's expectations and to outline how requests for early graduation would be evaluated.
