District administrators reported mixed renewal results for employee benefits at the April 14 Finance Committee meeting.
Bob Chady and Dr. Shawn Galvin said dental plan coverages and rates will remain the same for 2026–27, but health-insurance proposals were substantially different. As presented, Mercy offered a 6.0% increase while Quartz proposed a 39.9% increase. Administration said it has been working with the district's broker, USI, to explore plan-design changes and other cost-saving alternatives.
Committee members were informed that administration will continue negotiations and return with more detailed recommendations at the next meeting, including potential design changes to reduce the district's and employees' cost exposure.
