Lemon Grove board adopts 2025 facilities master plan; Monterey Heights fields prioritized

The Lemon Grove School District board approved an update to its Facilities Master Plan for 2025, outlining completed deferred‑maintenance projects and a schedule of short‑term construction for spring and summer 2026. The plan — developed with King Consulting and Motive Studio — targets roofs, HVAC upgrades, exterior painting, drainage, playground and asphalt work across sites and prioritizes Monterey Heights for turf and field improvements.

Facilities staff described the FMP as a long‑range planning tool, not a construction schedule, and said projects are intentionally phased around spring break and summer to minimize instructional disruption. The presenter said the district has an ICO volunteer oversight committee for bond expenditures and will post the full FMP and timelines on the district website.

Trustees pressed staff about emergent repairs such as sinkholes. The presentation explained that exterior funds in the FMP can be reallocated to address immediate needs at district property and that the district would coordinate with the city only if the problem is off‑site. Board members requested a future facilities workshop to prioritize projects and revisit the FMP's site‑by‑site recommendations.

"Monterey Heights is at the top of that list," a facilities presenter said when asked whether the student‑requested turf would be addressed under the plan. The board approved the plan with discussion of next steps for site prioritization and public posting of project schedules.
