Nutter Fort officials report City Hall work, audit filing, public-safety updates and code-enforcement follow-ups

Mayor Rezin Hudkins reported that former mayor photos have been rehung in the hallway outside council chambers and that new windows for City Hall are scheduled to be installed in a few weeks. The mayor also said the town has a scheduled meeting with Mon Power to discuss streetlight replacement and repair.

Treasurer Leslie Cummings told the council that the FYE2025 audit is complete and was submitted to state and federal government the same day; she said the audit documents will be emailed to council members by the end of the week. Cummings also reported that paperwork was submitted to the West Virginia Division of Highways and the West Virginia State Police for license-plate-reader (LPR) camera installations, and that ASK Insurance notified the town there will be no increase in the supplemental insurance premium this year. She noted that a 2024 Ford involved in a December 2025 accident was totaled when repairs revealed additional major damage, and that vendor registration for the 2026 Halloween Fall Festival will open April 3, 2026.

Fire Chief Jeremy Haddix said Engine 71 returned to service following refurbishment and promoted the 'Ultimate Giveaway' event scheduled for May 9, 2026, at the Nathan Goff Armory. EMS Supervisor Nathan Rohrbough reported an ambulance that experienced a near-miss in February is back in service and that call volume has increased. Public Works reported installation of a water tap on Pennsylvania Avenue. Code enforcement said the former RG Honda property owner has been contacted about obtaining a permit and is working on an asbestos test.
