The board approved the first reading of several policies, including Policy 105.2 (Exemption From Instruction); Policy 122.1 (Noncurriculum‑Related, Nonschool‑Sponsored, Student Initiated Groups); Policy 237 (Student Use of Cellular Phones, Digital Imaging Devices and Other Personal Electric Devices); Policy 815.1 (Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education) and its AI Implementation Guidelines attachment; and Policy 816 (District Social Media). Gerald Conn moved and David Tannehill seconded the motion; all members present voted in the affirmative.
The first-reading approval enables the board and district staff to continue deliberations and, where applicable, prepare for a second reading or adoption at a subsequent meeting. The minutes record the policy numbers and titles as presented for first reading on Jan. 8, 2026.
