On Dec. 17 the Darlington Community School District board voted to place a referendum on the April 2026 ballot seeking authorization to issue general obligation bonds not to exceed $6,000,000 under Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes. The approved ballot question asks voters to authorize bonds to pay for high school improvements, expansion of the Career and Technical Education department, acquisition of CTE equipment, district-wide capital maintenance and building infrastructure work, construction of an addition and renovations at the elementary school including four-year-old kindergarten classrooms, and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment.
The motion was made by Stauffacher and seconded by Riechers and recorded "Motion carried." The minutes print the full referendum question language used for the ballot. The board did not record a detailed fiscal impact estimate in the minutes; public informational materials and official ballot language are expected to be prepared administratively and included in future notices leading up to the April election.
