Staff climate survey shows strong engagement; district flags hiring-process concerns

District staff presented results from the Humanex Insight X staff climate survey at the Aug. 20 meeting, describing consistent, broadly positive results and areas for targeted attention.

Lewis told trustees the district saw about an 80% participation rate in the fall and a roughly 75% participation rate in the spring administration and called the sample "very robust." He said most survey dimensions remained stable, with the largest positive shift a 0.8 increase in peer relationships. He also noted a 0.8-point dip on the item measuring whether "our organization selects the right people for the job," and said the district will study transparency in recruitment and hiring. Trustees asked whether Humanex collects demographic data (it does not) and discussed follow-up steps including listening sessions and professional learning to support supervisors.

Lewis described the survey as "an anonymous survey that measures culture across multiple dimensions," and said the district will administer the instrument again next month and in the spring to build a two-year trend. Trustees asked for options to capture qualitative input and to connect survey findings to professional development and supervisory support.
