Redevelopment commission approves $3.5 million in purchase orders for Greenway work

The Redevelopment Commission on a unanimous roll call approved two purchase orders totaling $3.5 million to pay the primary contractor on the Marquette/Market Greenway project. Commissioners voted to authorize PO 3431 for $2,500,000 using Next Level Trails grant dollars and PO 3433 for $1,000,000 from the TIF miscellaneous account, and separately approved PO 3425 for $180,000 for the Mark Hackett Greenway phase.

Tina, a staff member managing project finances, said the contractor will be paid under a single contract but that two POs are needed "so we can show which portion is coming from Next Level Trails and which portion is coming from the TIF in the financials." She told commissioners that PO 3431 represents state grant funds and PO 3433 represents local TIF funds, and that the accounting split helps manage reimbursements and reporting to grantors.

Commissioners moved and seconded the motions and approved each item by roll call. The approvals clear the way for upcoming contractor invoices: two pay applications tied to PO 3433 were also approved during the meeting. Staff said the contractor is the only vendor to be paid from the Next Level Trails fund and that both POs were already accounted for in the project budget.
