District reports: NAEP testing selected for 8th graders; cell-phone policy options to be proposed; phone system upgraded

At its Nov. 17 meeting the district reported that selected 8th graders will take the NAEP on Feb. 5, 2026 (DPI proctoring), administrators plan to present multiple cell-phone policy options through WASB beginning in January with approval expected in Spring 2026, and the phone-system upgrade is complete with Richland-Grant as the new provider.

Mr. Kilburg told the Board that selected 8th-grade students will take the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026; the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction will proctor the assessment. The item was listed under Special Education/Assessments during the Nov. 17 meeting.
District Administrator Dr. Olson reported that he and Principal Dums will bring multiple cell-phone policy options to the Board through the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) as soon as January, with a target for Board approval in Spring 2026. Dr. Olson also announced that the district phone-system update is complete, external wiring for the old system will be removed by the end of the week, and Richland-Grant completed the work and will be the district's new provider.
