Wilmette Board Unanimously Approves Hires, Promotion and Recruitment Rules

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of Wilmette met July 21, 2025, at Village Hall and approved several personnel actions without discussion. Maria DiLorenzo, chair, presided over the meeting where commissioners voted unanimously on each item.

Commissioner Post moved to authorize a final offer of employment for entry-level police officer Bobby Anderson pending receipt of medical records; Commissioner Hasbrook seconded and the motion carried with Commissioners Post, Hasbrook and DiLorenzo voting yes. The board then authorized two conditional offers for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic for DeAndre Eagle and Israel Cornelio, a motion also moved by Commissioner Post and seconded by Commissioner Hasbrook that passed unanimously.

The board approved the promotion of Kevin Schuman from Firefighter/Paramedic to Fire Lieutenant/Paramedic, effective September 9, 2026. Commissioner Hasbrook made the motion and Commissioner Post seconded; the vote was unanimous. The meeting record shows each employment action was approved with no recorded opposition.

All votes were taken as recorded in the meeting minutes; the motions were carried and the meeting adjourned at 8:09 a.m. The board returned from a closed session called under Section 2(c)(1) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act earlier in the meeting before taking the personnel votes.
