Residents raise permitting concerns and call for accountability over staff termination

Resident Darryl Ellis told the council he faces permitting restrictions because his lot is in a subdivision and, in his understanding of the ordinance, would be required to obtain a full survey and could not build across lot lines. He said his intent is to build a home for himself and his daughter and ‘‘he does not intend to sell, subdivide, or develop the property for any other purpose.’’ The council did not record any immediate action in response in the minutes.

Resident Carol Freeman addressed the council about the termination of David Resendiz, saying his contract was paid through year-end and that hiring an interim created liability for the city. Freeman ‘‘respectfully called for the resignation of those responsible,’’ according to the minutes; no response or formal council action is recorded in the meeting minutes on that matter.
