Board approves extension for abatement work at 433 W. Madison St.

The Village of Spring Green Board of Trustees on May 28 approved owner-requested extensions to the Voluntary Abatement Agreement for structures at 433 W. Madison St., after Frank Glynn asked for more time to finish cleanup and repairs. The motion to grant the extension passed on a voice vote recorded as 5 ayes and 2 nays.

Glynn told the board he had removed what he described as "2100 cubic yards of garbage waste" and said weather and an equipment failure—a pump on a skid-steer—had delayed work. Trustees reviewed specific line items in the abatement agreement and discussed revised completion dates; the record shows requests to extend several items to June 20 and one item to July 5. Trustee Jennifer Snow noted the agreement allows extensions when the owner has shown due diligence and said, "in my opinion has been met by Glynn." Trustee David Saperstein and Trustee Damian Barta said they did not favor granting an extension.

The board required that compliance be verified: initial oversight would remain with Chief Stoddard but building-inspection tasks will be completed by a building inspector, and trustees asked for status updates at subsequent board meetings. During general public comment, Bonnie Bindl "expressed her disapproval of the extension," which the board recorded in the minutes. The approval is limited to the extensions described in the motion and does not change the underlying raze order.
