CDD reports construction under way on four drainage sites; trees to be removed and replanted

District Engineer Charlie Krebs told the board that all four drainage-improvement sites are under construction, with sites cleared, silt fences installed, pipes placed and grading completed at some locations. He reported that "sod will most likely be installed in Turnberry and Palmetto Dunes the week of July 2, 2026," and that pipe will be installed in Oak Run the week of June 29, 2026.

Mr. Krebs said a total of twelve affected trees in Palmetto Dunes will need to be removed and replaced (most are slash pines; two are red maples), and that six Cabbage Palms must be removed and replanted in Oak Run. He also noted contractors are working extended hours, including Saturdays. Staff will track additional costs (including a pre-construction environmental review required by the South Florida Water Management District) and Mr. Krebs will provide a log of extra costs for inclusion on the next agenda.

The board discussed possible irrigation repairs and the golf-course exposure to encroaching Canna lilies; the minutes record that A/C repairs and extra silt fence work will be funded from contingency due to unexpected damage during clearing.
