Hartford J1 keeps a 10-year facilities plan and Fund 46 to prioritize capital work, Majeris says

Adam Majeris described the district's long-range facilities planning process and how the district budgets for future replacements and improvements. He said the district maintains condition assessments (for boilers, HVAC units, roofs and other systems), documents replacement costs and sets priorities and time frames so the board and administrators "are familiar with kind of generally speaking what the age is, and they can get on board and support us with replacing that stuff."

Villalobos added that the district maintains a dedicated facilities fund, Fund 46, restricted to facilities-related costs and used alongside an annually updated 10-year plan that the board reviews and approves. "It is specifically a facilities fund. It can only be used on facilities related costs or expenses," she said, noting the district team (facility supervisor, building principals and district staff) updates the list regularly to ensure priorities remain appropriate.

Majeris said the trust fund and planning help the district prepare for equipment failures and prioritize improvements rather than reacting. He framed the work as protecting community assets and keeping buildings safe, clean and operational for daily use.
