Fire chief: $71,000 Stryker invoice paid from Act 102 to equip new ambulance

The committee approved vouchers that include a $71,000 invoice from Stryker to supply a power-load system and power cot that will be factory-installed on a new ambulance expected in September or October. "The invoice that was paid was paid with funds from act 102, and there's, sufficient funding for us to do that," said Chief Klug, who described the payment as coming from a non-lapsing funding assistance account administered by the city.
Klug told members the county owns the ambulances and equipment and that, because of inflation and outfitting choices, a new ambulance can cost ‘‘collectively around 450,000’’ depending on configuration. He said the city chose to buy the power-load and cot separately rather than pursue a remount program that could leave patient compartments decades old. A $4,000 trade-in credit also appears on the invoice, and city staff confirmed the procurement was processed through normal voucher procedures.
