CDD staff prepares bid documents for Pelican Sound gatehouse renovations

Charlie Krebs, the district engineer, told the board that "the application was sent to the Village of Estero" and that checks were issued by Bowman Incorporated. He said draft bid document language was provided to District Counsel Tony Pires and District Manager Cleo Adams, and that, upon counsel approval, the district will advertise for sealed bids and set a submission deadline.

Board discussion focused on original bid specifications, value engineering of the main entrance monuments, and potential aesthetic improvements such as lattice or additional landscaping. Krebs noted the metal gates at the US-41 main gate are being replaced and will be very similar to the Williams gate; the scope will also include paver replacement. Staff indicated the front entrance would generally remain open during daytime to reduce traffic backups.
