Board approves small Ash Canyon subdivision amendment 3–2 over objections from two supervisors

The board considered Subdivision 20250070, an amendment to the Ash Canyon tentative subdivision map that reduces street side yard setbacks for two internal lots from 10 feet to 6.5 feet. Community Development staff explained that because the original approval was as an open‑space development, the board must approve any amendment to the final map.

Following public comment (one resident asked for clarification about open space definitions), Supervisor Schutte moved to approve SUB 20250070 and the motion passed with three yes votes and two no votes. Mayor Lori Bagwell announced the result and said, "Let the record reflect it was 3 yeses and 2 nos. The nos are Supervisor Geomey and Supervisor White." The board did not change the conditions of approval and the clerk recorded the vote.

The approval authorizes the reduced setbacks subject to the conditions noted in the staff report; opponents on the dais expressed concerns about precedent and neighborhood character.
