Board enters closed session, approves personnel items and nonresidential student applications

The school board voted to go into closed session under Virginia Code 2.2-3711 to discuss personnel matters (new hires, supplemental employment, promotions, resignations, FMLA and nonresident students) and to receive legal counsel on litigation and personnel issues. A motion citing subsections a.1, a.7 and a.8 of the code was moved and seconded and passed by roll call.

After closed session, the board returned to open session and certified that the closed meeting complied with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act; a certification motion was approved. From closed session the board moved to approve the personnel agenda with exceptions (items 1 and 16 excepted and item 19 tabled). The board then approved two nonresidential student applications after a separate motion and roll-call votes.
