CTMP maps 21 priority corridors, offers database and policy 'toolbox' for local governments

Consultants from WSP and county planning staff presented the technical core of the Countywide Transportation Master Plan: a three-tier implementation framework (optimize, expand, transform), a prioritized set of 21 countywide corridors, and a searchable project database that houses roughly 2,000 candidate projects submitted by municipalities, special districts and county departments. "The pipeline of projects that we have brought in almost 2,000 projects that are in that database," a presenter said.

The CTMP recommends a toolbox of policy options to modernize performance standards (including multimodal level-of-service), guidance for context-sensitive street sections, and an implementation program to track projects, funding opportunities, and intergovernmental coordination. The team proposed pilot "quick wins" such as targeted traffic-signal optimization and selected service-frequency increases for Palm Tran routes. Staff said the database will be transferred to county control and a public portal is planned so municipal staff and the public can search projects by corridor, jurisdiction or plan source.
