Council reads multiple Lake Charles ordinances, including lakefront RFP authority and cybersecurity contract

The council clerk read a lengthy slate of ordinances and resolutions on the agenda, including demolition orders for a set of properties, condemnations, capital improvement program (CIP) authorizations and procurement actions. The reading included an ordinance "authorizing the City of Lake Charles to accept the best proposal received from the request for proposals issued for a developer to design, build, finance, own, operate, and maintain a food and beverage and recreational establishment on 1 acre, more or less, to be leased in Track 3 of the lakefront of the City of Lake Charles," and cited the authority the clerk read "in accordance with and as authorized by Title 41, Section 12.14 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended."

The clerk also read an ordinance to enter into agreements for phone services with Southwest Communications and a separate ordinance to contract with BlockWorks LLC for cybersecurity services, plus the proposed FY2026–27 operating and capital budget and a set of CIP A&E and right-of-way authorizations. Several CIP resolutions and condemnations were announced and will return for council consideration per the normal ordinance/resolution process.
