AGDC says it has exclusive framework agreement to advance Alaska LNG; FEED and binding deals next

Frank Richards, chief spokesman for the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation, told reporters AGDC has reached an exclusive framework agreement with a private engineering and energy company to "privately lead and fund" the Alaska LNG project, including North Slope carbon capture, the Nikiski liquefaction facility and the pipeline to deliver North Slope natural gas to Alaskans.

"I'm announcing that AGDC has reached an exclusive framework agreement with a qualified engineering qualified energy company to privately lead and fund the development of the Alaska LNG project," Richards said, adding that the next steps are legally binding development agreements and front‑end engineering and design (FEED) to support a final investment decision. He described the privately led project scale as approximately $44,000,000,000.

Richards recounted the project's regulatory history and said FERC completed extensive environmental review under the Trump administration in 2017–2020; he said world events have renewed developer and off‑taker interest and that AGDC used an ADA backstop credit line to help secure the framework agreement. He said definitive agreements will be announced once NDAs allow public disclosure.

AGDC and the governor emphasized the next stage is commercial negotiation and FEED, and that a formal joint public announcement with the private company will occur when definitive agreements are finalized. Officials asked for patience while nondisclosure agreements govern ongoing commercial discussions.
