Residents press commission on notice omission, road impacts and environmental risks

Several residents addressed the commission during public comment, sharply criticizing the failure to notify the railroad for one planning area and pressing staff and the applicant for follow‑up on road maintenance and potential environmental impacts.

Arnold Quinn, who spoke from online attendance, called the omission of the railroad in the mailed notice "complete incompetence" and urged removals of responsible staff and commissioners. Frank Johns, an adjacent property owner, described current wintertime hazards on County Road 72 and asked whether impacts from increased traffic, a public works site and construction staging had been considered in traffic and impact studies; he also reported construction debris and stormwater problems on local access roads and urged the town to consider annexation or assumption of control for maintenance and enforcement.

Commissioners acknowledged the concerns. Staff said the public‑works facility and other remaining filings will appear in a subsequent meeting and that staff would look at the process to address road annexation/maintenance and environmental protections. "I would like to see that annexed as part of the town, get that easement because we need you guys to control what is going on that road," Frank Johns said during his remarks.
