DNR outlines scope for Minneopa State Park campground modernization

Brian Ritzinger, DNR project manager for Minneopa, walked the board through the RFP bullet points for the campground modernization, calling out vertical and site elements the agency expects the prime to deliver. "This is gonna be for design and construction administration for the modernization of the Minneapolis State Park Campground, which will include a new shower building, a new wastewater system, relocated campground entrance...reconfigured campground to include increased pad sizes, pull through sites, and other amenities," Ritzinger said.

Ritzinger and DNR staff emphasized site-specific features that will steer design choices: expanding and modernizing the dump station, a new accessible interpretive staging area, general accessibility improvements and an accessible hiking loop of about one mile. Agency staff noted the project will also require traffic-control work near the park's bison area. The board heard that construction funding is available for the project, though the schedule leaves some buffer time for regulatory reviews.
