CSISD reports gains across subjects but flags 7th‑grade math as area needing targeted work

District Director of School Improvement Mann presented the 2025–26 STAAR and EOC results using heat maps and cohort tracking, saying the district saw significant gains in several elementary campuses and strong performance in science and biology.

Mann noted that 11 of 19 campuses saw numerical rating increases and that some campuses recorded double-digit gains in meets and masters categories. He highlighted Rock Prairie, Pebble Creek and South Knoll for notable year-over-year improvements and said, "We have 11 campuses, 11 of the 19 campuses seeing a numerical rating increase in their overall score." Mann also described cohort tracking by ethnicity and grade to monitor achievement gaps.

However, Mann identified 7th-grade math as a persistent weakness: the district saw a decrease that likely reflects statewide changes in how advanced students are counted on that test, and he estimated CSISD pulls 8–10% more students into advanced tracks than average — a factor that may affect comparative results. He said two campuses (AMCMS and Wellborn) have been placed on a need-improvement plan largely because of math performance and staff are awaiting official TEA details to finalize interventions. Mann told trustees math teams met during August professional development with campus leadership to plan changes for the 5–8 sequence.

The presentation included technical caveats about small-sample reporting for the accelerated academy and emphasized continued cohort monitoring rather than single-test conclusions. Board members thanked staff and asked for follow-up detail on accountability weighting and CCMR contributions to high-school scores.
