Commission authorizes maintenance to solicit bids for two Judicial Center boilers

The Crawford County Commission formally authorized the county maintenance department to solicit bids for two replacement boilers for the Judicial Center and instructed staff to pursue grant opportunities to offset costs.

"I make a motion that we have our maintenance department go out and get bids for 2 boilers for the judicial center," the chair said; a commissioner seconded the motion and the board agreed to proceed. Commissioners also asked staff to seek three competitive bids and return with conservative estimates before issuing formal procurement documents.

Commissioners discussed using $61,616.16 remaining in the special projects/courthouse maintenance ARPA line as part of the funding plan and to pursue reimbursement where eligible. Staff was assigned to prepare bid specifications, identify potential sources for the remaining funds, and coordinate grant applications such as the Build Kansas Fund or CDBG commercial rehabilitation.

The action is procedural authorization to procure estimates and solicit competitive bids; staff will return with bids and a recommended procurement path before contracts are awarded.
