Committee recommends four‑year lease for 60 staff MacBooks

At its Aug. 12, 2025 meeting, the Parkview School District Curriculum and Technology Committee recommended that the district pursue a four‑year lease to replace 60 staff MacBooks rather than buying the devices outright.

Administration reported that the district’s current staff devices date to 2019 and that only two to three spare devices remain available to cover failures. The committee reviewed two options presented by Jen Bowers: purchase 60 machines for $67,080, or lease 60 devices with annual payments of $17,246.39 for four years (a four‑year total of $68,985.56) and a potential end‑of‑lease buyback value estimated at $13,500. The current budget includes $20,000 toward staff device replacement; committee members discussed a rolling replacement plan of roughly 20 devices per year to remain near that budget amount.

After discussion the committee recommended moving forward with the leasing option for the next four years. The recommendation was recorded in the meeting minutes; no formal recorded roll‑call vote on the procurement option appears in the minutes. The next committee meeting is scheduled for Sept. 30, 2025, when procurement details and any recommended contract terms could be revisited.
